A data centre is a location used to house computer and server systems and other components of a large infrastructure, such as back up devices (magnetic tape), and storage systems.

Data centre’s usually employ back up and redundant power solutions to allow the system to operate int he event of a power failure, and various environmental controls such as air conditioning to cool the large number of commuters, and fir suppression to protect data.

Data centre’s become more prevalent as businesses become more reliant on information systems to power the day to day operations. It is important for reliable and continuous data services to be provided in a secure environment, so the best solution is often to construct a data centre to solve the majority of the businesses computing and telecommunication needs.
