Sub-Domain

By Joe Gardiner Monday, 12th April 2010

A sub domain is simply a domain that is part of a larger domain.

For example user.example.com and pictures.example.com are sub domains of the top level domain example.com.

Subdomains use the web server to locate files for the web site. So www.example.com will load files in the www folder in the domain example.com on it’s relevant web server.
