UPS

An Uninterruptible Power Supply is an electronic device that continues to provide power to a source as a secondary power solution, usually when the mains power is disconnected, for example in a power cut. A UPS provides this power instantly as it takes the form of one or more batteries. There is no build up time necessary that you may need when using a generator as a backup power supply. A UPS is most commonly used for computers or data centres, as the backup power is supplied instantly so there is no interruption, allowing a normal service to continue inĀ  a power cut, and no system wide reboots required. The UPS solution at CatN allows us to continue power our data centre for at least 80 minutes in the case of a power cut. Note, our backup generator automatically runs after 15 seconds with no mains power.
